Proposals being accepted for a performance at this year’s Transmodern Festival, Sept 21-27, 2014.
Tied by your Tongue is an immersive evening of dance and performance around the idea of language; its oppressive and liberating nature. Artists will explore how language shapes societal logic, culture, norms, perspectives, and understanding. Audience will be expected to move and shift through the venue space, engaging with a variety of performances and installed environments. Performances will occur on a linear time program so that the audience will not miss any one performance.
I’m trying to keep the evening to about an hour to an hour and a half. Performances should be 8-10 minutes. I am also interested in performance that is immersive in its set design, so installations are welcome. There will be at least 2 evenings of this performance, at most, 3.
I’m looking for artists who want to push their own boundaries, step outside the box, and really dig deep. Think experimental, untraditional! I am asking for proposals because I have a limited amount of time for the evening. Artists will receive a small stipend.
