Target Gallery / Torpedo Factory Art Center

This is an Open Call for proposals for a solo exhibition in the summer of 2015. This call is open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from July 25 – August 30, 2015. The artist(s) will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog. A panel of independent arts professionals will review submissions and select the final proposal. Our jurors this year are John James Anderson, Amy Boone-McCreesh, and Alex Goldstein.

The Fred Lazarus IV Artscape Prize (“The Fred”) is a competitive program that seeks to recognize and encourage artistic talent in Baltimore City.  Rising high school seniors apply for the prize which awards $1,000 to a Baltimore City school student artist.  The selected artist also receives a stipend to produce a solo exhibition in conjunction with the annual festival, with mentorship from the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts.  The prize is named in honor of the Maryland Institute College of Arts’ long-serving president.

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts is now accepting grant applications for the 2015 Creative Baltimore Fund.  The grant program provides nearly $250,000 in funding to local individual artists and established non-profit cultural organizations.  Applications and guidelines are available at www.promotionandarts.org/grants.  The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 31, 2015.  The Creative Baltimore Fund is a program of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts.

The Creative Baltimore Fund provides support to artists and organizations through two grants.  Individual artists are invited to apply for the Mayor’s Individual Artist Award which provides project support for programs promoting public access and encouraging the breadth of arts and/or cultural programming in Baltimore City.  Additionally, theGeneral Operating Support grant provides core support for established arts or cultural organizations that benefit the public and are artistically or culturally vibrant.  Individual artists can receive up to $5,000 for project support; organizations can receive up to $10,000 for general operating support.  Grant awards will be announced in May 2015.

The Creative Baltimore Fund is made possible through the support of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the Baltimore City Council and helps art programs and projects come to fruition and continue to enhance the City of Baltimore.  The program is administered by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts which is the arts council for Baltimore City.  In addition, an independent panel reviews applications and selects grant recipients.

Orange County is seeking qualifications and images from artists interested in providing public art for a new Community Center in Holden Heights. After looking at images of current and past work, the selection panel will ask three or four artists to make a site-specific proposal for art that they would provide. An honorarium of $500 is given to each finalist for making a proposal. One artist will be commissioned based on their proposal. The final artist selected will be paid nearly $50,000 to create and install the work they proposed. Deadline, March 9. Email Michael.Osowski@ocfl.net for full details.

Project 1 will consist of an exterior artwork on the facade of the facility adjacent to the main entrance. Project 2 will consist of an interior artwork located on the wall above the control desk near the main entrance.

Artists and artist teams may apply for both, but no one artist or artist team will be awarded both commissions. The selected artist/team will design, fabricate, and install a work of art in the form of a painted mural, metal, mosaic or glass installation for the interior; and a metal, mosaic or glass installation for the exterior.

The project budget, including materials, fabrication, installation, travel and expenses, is $50,000.00 for Project 1 and $15,000.00 for Project 2.
