More Information

Art of Science at the Maryland Science Center is a part of the Creativity Garden— a nationwide project of the Association of Science-Technology Centers, generously supported by Disney.

Creativity is a necessary skill for all ages – young, old, and everything in between. Cultivating young minds to think creatively is key to our society and helps foster advances in science and innovation. The Center for Childhood Creativity (CCC) in its report, Inspiring a Generation to Create: Critical Components of Creativity in Children, identifies seven components of creativity: imagination and originality; flexibility; decision making; communication and self expression; motivation; collaboration; and action and movement. The goal of the Art of Science event is to encourage school age children to participate in hands-on experiences that highlight some of these components and make connections to science, technology, engineering, and math.
