Maryland Art Place’s Annual Fall Benefit
Exhibition & Silent Auction
Submission & Proposal Deadline: Friday, September 19 @ 5PM
Maryland Art Place (MAP) is pleased to announce an open “Call to Artists” for its 2014 Annual Fall Benefit, the Saratoga Toga Party. This year’s event will celebrate MAP’s move back to its original home on the west side of Baltimore in the newly established Bromo Tower Arts and Entertainment District.
The Saratoga Toga Party will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 7 o’clock in the evening at 218 West Saratoga Street. The fall benefit is an important part of MAP’s annual fundraising initiatives, but more importantly the event is a conduit for MAP to present interesting and relevant themes being explored within contemporary art today. This fall will be no different as MAP pursues the topic of Greek and Roman mythology in contemporary art; and the visual outcomes of that exploration as translated through performance and 2-D & 3-D artwork. It is our hopes that you may submit a piece of work related to this the theme (newly created or already existing) to be exhibited as part of our silent auction.
Work(s) for Silent Auction: MAP and the artist will split the proceeds equally from the sale of the work – MAP’s proceeds will directly benefit operations and initiatives throughout the year; sales price to be set by the artists. Space is limited!
To submit work for consideration, please read through the following guidelines & information (no fee required!):
• 1-3 low-resolution images and work descriptions (please be specific about media, size, title, dates, etc.)
• Description of work must include an explanation on how it relates to the theme – Roman & Greek mythology, history, culture – can refer to clothing, architecture, creatures, Gods/Goddesses, (literal/conceptual) etc.
• Artist resume/bio
• Complete application (see below)

Artist Tickets: All selected artists will receive one free event ticket with their 50% artwork donation OR receive two free tickets with a generous 100% artwork donation to the Saratoga Toga Party on Saturday, October 25 + inclusion in marketing and promotion initiatives leading up to the event date.
