Teachers should enroll their school in this project for their students to get a chance to design their own pair of Vans sneakers as well as win a trip to New York and prizes for their art department.

The Marianne Boesky Gallery will be hosting the Baltimore Artists + WPA + Mera Rubell = LOVE exhibition, part of the Select 2014 exhibition. This exhibition displays the work of Baltimore artists, chosen by the Co-Founder of the Rubbell Family Collection, Mera Rubell during her 36 hour studio visit marathon.

Applications are available for the Baltimore Heritage Area Association Small Cap Grant and the 2015 Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Project Grants. These applications are open for submission for non-profit organizations, government entities, historic sites, and other attractions located within the boundaries of the Baltimore National Heritage Area.

SIGN PAINTERS a film by Faythe Levine and Sam Macon
MICA Design League is hosting Baltimore’s first screening of this movie.

“Sign Painters, the first anecdotal history of the craft, features the stories of more than two dozen sign painters working in cities throughout the United States. The documentary and book profiles sign painters young and old, from the new vanguard working solo to collaborative shops such as San Francisco’s New Bohemia Signs and New York’s Colossal Media’s Sky High Murals.”

The City of Dublin invites individual artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for several upcoming public art opportunities, creating permanently installed artwork at the Emerald Glen Park Recreation and Aquatics Complex.

The complex design includes a 14,000 square foot natatorium, locker rooms, staff offices, viewing areas, and a small common room. The outdoor area will include a 25 meter x 25 yard pool, water slide, splash area, water play area, and teaching pool with surrounding patios, picnic areas, and viewing areas. There are several artwork opportunities, including a Design Purchase for $10,000, and exterior artwork opportunities with a budget of $167,000.

This is a multi-faceted project for a new middle school in the Brookland neighborhood of Northeast, Washington, D.C., including the following works of art:

1) Entry Plaza work – Themed:  environmental sustainability (with possible connections to storm water tanks and geothermal loop):  $50,000

2)  3 Story Atrium suspended work of art – Themed:  Diversity:  $50,000

3)  Outdoor Classroom – Themed:  environmental sustainability (interactive, educational and didactic works of art to highlight wind, solar and other renewable energy sources):  $50,000

4)  Banners and pavement wayfinding on the Michigan Avenue side of the school – Themed:  Brookland  $50,000

5)  Main Lobby – Themed:  Performing Arts :  $30,000
