The Visit Baltimore Foundation wants to fund your continuing education and empower our tourism community!

Professional Development Scholarships up to $2,000 each are available. Individuals looking to enter and/or currently working within Baltimore’s meetings and tourism industry and pursing any number of special certification(s), product knowledge and/or professional training are encouraged to apply. Eligible activities and programs include (but are not limited to):

  • American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) Professional Certification Programs
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM)
  • National Restaurant Association Professional Certification Programs (ManageFirst, ServSafe)
  • Other relevant continuing education courses or dedicated job-focused training in Business, Culinary, Hospitality, Hotel, Tourism or Non-Profit Management pending sufficient clarification and connection to Baltimore’s meetings and tourism industry in the application form.

Scholarship dollars are also available for employees of Baltimore’s non-profit cultural/heritage tourism community to attend educational conferences and/or workshopsas long as that individuals’ participation can be demonstrated as strengthening the capacity of local organizations to attract and serve visitors.Additional eligibility restrictions may apply.

MARYLAND ART PLACE ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ENTRY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CYBERWIRE:  “CREATING CONNECTIONS”

Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with The CyberWire is pleased to announce an open ‘Call for Entry’. An extension of MAP’s annual IMPRINT project, MAP is working with The CyberWire to offer “CREATING CONNECTIONS”, a commission and print replication project.  The image of that artwork will be reproduced in a limited edition and presented to the guests of The CyberWire’s 3rd Annual Women in Cyber Security reception on September 27, 2016.  Applications are due Saturday, August 27, 2016

cretive_alliance_gallery_alive_0[1]The Amalie Rothschild Gallery in Baltimore invites artists to apply either to exhibit their work in their gallery space, or to use the gallery as a project space to incubate and facilitate new work to put on exhibition for their 2017 season.

Exhibits at the Amalie Rothschild Gallery are generally self-produced. Artists are responsible for most of the installation and publicity for their exhibitions. CA (Creative Alliance) membership is required to apply.

The City of Philadelphia’s Percent for Art Program, through the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy announces a public art competition to commission an interior site-specific artwork for The Free Library of Philadelphia’s main branch at Parkway Central.  This commission is part of a $36 million major project renovation.

A budget of $50,000 has been allocated for this Percent for Art commission.  This sum is inclusive of all artist(s) fees, insurance, fabrication, installation, travel, and all other project related expenses.

Digital Approaches: Sculpture, Fiber Art, Painting & New Media

Digital Fabrication Residency program residents learn and gain hands-on experience with laser cutting, CNC routing, FDM 3D printing, digital embroidery, 2D plotting and 3D scanning. Applications for the 3 Day Onsite Residency Program must include a project proposal that outlines what the resident plans to work on while onsite. Residents are responsible for arranging their own accommodations, travel expenses, meals and if projects require materials outside of those provided.

2 online planning meetings prior to residency for file preparation and project ideation. This is a highly individualized opportunity to develop and work through ideas on the machines and utilizing a private studio. There are basic materials supplied and residents can send materials ahead of onsite visit. See website for residency participation details. No application fee.
