Exhibition Statement: Menagerie is an animal themed exhibition of sculptures in animal form or vessels decorated with an animal motif. Artists often find inspiration in the zoological realm, from cave paintings to contemporary ceramic arts, animals abound. We project our foibles and personalities on them. We use their grace, strength or antics and translate that onto our artwork. Artists can hide the truth under the guise of a creature or in an attempt to embody an attribute. This show encompasses sculptures depicting the form or pose of a beast as well as teacups or bowls with animals gallivanting around. Do the animals have human qualities or is it the other way around?

Juror Bio:
I have always loved painting, and I especially like making small objects, with rich surfaces. Sometimes I get lost in pure pattern, other times I discover an evocative narrative, in any case I obsessively dive into the surface, to discover a story. It is especially satisfying for me when someone makes a personal relationship with my work, connecting the narrative I have begun, with a meaningful archive of their own. Raised in Cleveland Ohio, Jenny studied at Washington University and Penland School of Crafts. For the past 17 years she has worked as a full time studio artist
